Vacuum hose leaks – B5. ABS control module failure. MAF sensor failure. 1. Ignition Coil Pack Failure. Premature ignition coil pack failure is common on all B5/B5.5 Passat engines. Coil packs transform the battery’s lower voltage into a high voltage needed by the spark plugs to initiate engine combustion. Tiptronic Performance Mods. In the summer of 2002, discussions occured at Club B5 regarding various options that could be enabled on Tiptronic transmissions: an undocumented sport mode and a semi-documented modification of how the transmission behaves in Tiptronic mode. Original contributors included club members Rusty, Pass-Variant and vw18t.
I have a 2001 Passat 1.8T (AUG) automatic trans, with about 127,000 miles on it. B5 Garage Transmission problem Transmission problem.
Automatic transmission dont shift when warm. I have just parchased my Passat 1.8T triptronic with 102 k. replacing the turbo. The problem is: When the engine is cold, the transmission shift normally without any problems. When the engine starts to heat , say 20 to 30 minutes in transit, the shifts starting to be more difficult, where sometimes

I just did my transmission fluid & filter service with the Blauparts kit, they provide the German made Ravenol oil, it seems fine and everything works as it should. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that searching for the cheapest fluid is the best idea for ZF transmission.
It's incomplete, but goes through a good bit and gives an idea of scope. Thought I’d document a manual swap on the 1.8T for the B5/B5.5 folks. This pertains specifically to the B5.5, but the B5 and V6 is similar. I couldn’t have undertaken this project without the help of the many resources in the Audi Forums below. I purchased VCDS from ross-tech and did the auto scan. I believe the issue is the TCM. I removed all the seats and carpet before running the autoscan, thats why the airbag issues came up on it I believe. The main issue is the TCM from what I am seeing. The code I am worried about is P0603. The old TCM was wet along with all of the wiring going No ATF leaks. The AT does not engage in any gear (including Tiptronic), rolls like in N. Here are the codes I got with VCDS: 17114 - Gear Ratio Monitoring. P0730 - 003 - Incorrect Gear Ratio. 17195 - Excessive Clutch Slippage. P0811 - 003 - - MIL ON. I have tried to rule out electrical issues: TCM and harness dry.
Dragging clutch. If you have a manual transmission, you might experience a dragging clutch. This is described as the clutch disk failing to disengage the flywheel when the clutch is pressed. The problem makes it difficult or impossible to change gears and is accompanied by a grinding noise. It’s usually caused by too much slack in the clutch
You will learn about transmission problems such as faulty transmission range sensors, reset Volkswagen transmission adaptive settings, check transmission fluid levels, and retrieve transmission diagnostic trouble codes from the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

Let me first say, the transmission shifts fine, but, when coming to a quick or sudden stop, it is like it comes out of gear for a second. Say. for example I nail the brakes quickly for an emergency stop, then immediately hit the gas
